Caroline Hadley Mousner
Hello, my name is Caroline Hadley Mousner. Let me start my biography “short” with some history of my name. My first name came from my great, great, aunt who was killed in the Galveston hurricane of 1900. My middle name comes from the first wife of Ernest Hemingway, my grandfather and mother’s favorite author. My last name is very unique as well. There are only six of us in the entire world. I was born in Bryan, Texas where my mother was a teacher at Blinn College and my father was a surveyor. My parents divorced when I was seven, so my mother and I moved to Corsicana and moved in with my grandmother. I spent my elementary years at James L. Collins Catholic School and my high school years here at Corsicana High School. When I was in second grade and I was still struggling to read, they discovered I was dyslexic and so I spent a lot of extra time having to learn the basic things and I still need extra time today. It was hard being labeled the dumb one and so my self esteem was terrible. My principal, Miss Starek, suggested to my mother that I should try theatre. It was like the magic potion that changed my life. I love everything about the theatre and I am just discovering that my favorite thing to do is to direct. I also love all types of music, so naturally musical theatre is my favorite form of theatre. I plan to attend Fort Lewis College, located in Durango, Colorado, next year after high school graduation and I want to major in theatre education so that I can teach and help children like myself who had a hard time with being themselves.
