The Corsicana Tigers Varsity topMt. Pleasant in back-and-forth affair, 9-7

The Corsicana Tigers Varsity and Mt. Pleasant traded the lead four times on Thursday, but the Corsicana Tigers Varsity ended up on top with a 9-7 win in seven innings over Mt. Pleasant.

The Corsicana Tigers Varsity pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A groundout by Madison Pond scored Chelsea Vandiver and gave the Corsicana Tigers Varsity the lead for good.

The Corsicana Tigers Varsity staved off Mt. Pleasant as Mt. Pleasant was unable to match the Corsicana Tigers Varsity down the stretch.

Mt. Pleasant scored three runs in the seventh on an RBI single by #2 and a two-run triple by #3. Unfortunately, Mt. Pleasant wasn’t able to take the lead back.

Leeah Seth racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Corsicana Tigers Varsity. She singled in the first inning, homered in the sixth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

Vandiver recorded the win for the Corsicana Tigers Varsity even though she allowed seven runs over seven innings. Vandiver struck out six, walked one and gave up 11 hits.

#9 was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in seven innings, walked three and struck out four.

The bottom of the first saw Mt. Pleasant take an early lead, 2-0. Mt. Pleasant caught fire after #22 doubled. Then #2 doubled, plating #22. Mt. Pleasant then tacked on more runs when scored on an error.

Mt. Pleasant matched its one-run third inning with one more in the sixth. In the third, Mt. Pleasant scored on an RBI single by #2, bringing home #22.

Jada Wooley‘s solo home run and sparked the Corsicana Tigers Varsity’s three-run sixth inning.
