The Corsicana Tigers Varsity uses big sixth inning to beat Mt. Pleasant, 9-1

A five-run explosion in the sixth inning spurred the Corsicana Tigers Varsity to a 9-1 win in seven innings over Mt. Pleasant on Saturday.

The Corsicana Tigers Varsity scored in the sixth on a two-run double by Kameron Betts, a passed ball, a fielder’s choice, and a groundout by Chelsea Vandiver.

Jada Wooley had a hot bat for the Corsicana Tigers Varsity. Wooley went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Vandiver kept contact to a minimum, striking out six Mt. Pleasant batters. Vandiver allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over seven innings.

#9 was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in six innings, walked three and struck out two.

The game’s last lead went to the Corsicana Tigers Varsity thanks to a third inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on a two-run double by Leeah Seth.

The Corsicana Tigers Varsity tacked on another two runs in the fourth. Wooley homered to start the inning. That was followed up by Seth’s single, bringing home Jaycie Hightower.
