Marching Contest Success

Miguel Pimental, JBJ Staff

On Saturday, October 10, the Corsicana High School Tiger Marching Band competed at the Cedar Creek Marching Festival at Mabank. This was another one of the band’s preparation for their upcoming Region 8 UIL Marching Contest at Midway this coming Saturday on October 17. The band, yet again, performed in the hot sun at 5:00 P.M. for the preliminary round. Though they were the only 5A band to compete that, they competed with effort and passion as they always do. After their first performance, they received best in class 5A trophy, and they also took home Best in Percussion for all competing bands that day. They then were announced to perform again for the finals round that night. After they left it all on the field for their second performance, they took the stands and waited for results. As they announced band after band, the hope was rising in the stands as they finally announced 1st place. “…And first place for the 2015 Cedar Creek Marching Festival…Corsicana High School.” The Corsicana section in the stands exploded as their effort paid off that night. Now the band takes the judge’s comments and use this week to perfect their show and prepare for Midway, and hopefully Area the following weekend. We wish the Tiger Band the best of luck in their upcoming week.
